Fighting between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks during july 2010 has killed at least 250 people in the Jalalabad district after clashes of june in capital Bishkek.
Entire neighbors of the southern city of Osh were burned to the ground by armored gangs and the violence has also spread to the whole region. Checkpoints have been set on the roads and curfew has been set by national army supported by special forces. Uzbek's homes have been destroyed and human rights watch reports say hundreds of people have been killed. The United Nations has issued an appeal for $71m in humanitarian aid for Kyrgyzstan, where more than 400,000 people have been displaced by the fighting. Many have taken refuge in camps along the border with Uzbekistan, and the Red Cross has called the situation an "immense crisis".
