Cato Manor is an extremely poor area in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province. With a high HIV and poverty rate, the neighborhood sits in view of affluent South Africans in the top percentage of the nation's wealth. The two communities seldom intersect and life plays out for Cato Manor is a sad juxtaposition with those of priviledge. Government funding earmaked for the region has been spent on housing projects to upgrade from the current situation, however the ill-advised funding makes houses that stand but lack basic layouts that will serve the families that will be packed in side them. Through Habitat for Humanity I was able to gain an inside look in the neighborhod and deliver photogeaphs of the construction that are hopefully able to make improvements so the money is not improperly spent.
I see the ability to create as my greatest passion, and the abiltiy to use that talent to help others as necessary. I strive to product work that is not only compelling to the viewer but that also enables me to engage in projects that shed light on those otherwise forgotten.
