I use photography as a means of self-expression. Whilst studying communication science, I realised that I need a medium I could use to cut across language barriers because in South Africa alone, we have eleven official languages of which I only speak two. In my photography I wish to tell stories that can impact people’s lives.
When I work with my camera, I’m reminded that I have to use veracity when dealing with my subjects. Colour and light are two elements I enjoy exploring in my photography. My awareness of my environment is often shown in the themes that I choose; I want to create meaning with my images.
I’ve worked on issues like teenage pregnancies, land reform, drugs and I’ve done work for an NGO. The issues I dealt with inform, educate and create awareness to viewers. I strive to constantly achieve visually engaging work.
