On her way to work after school
This is the story of a 30 year old single mother with Vitiligo whose condition is purely aesthetic and visible to all. She not only struggles with the ongoing transformation of her physical appearance but also the stigma and misconception people have about the condition.
In her own words "The reason why I find such power in telling my story is because although I am confident of my beauty in and out, I am made aware of the uniqueness of it on a daily basis whether in conversation, or by looks and comments. I hope to expose people to what vitiligo is, to challenge people to look beyond physical appearance, to see the beauty in being unique and to be an inspiration for anyone facing challenges."

Vitiligo is a skin condition in which there is a loss of pigment from areas of skin, resulting in irregular white patches that feel like normal skin. Vitiligo appears to occur when immune cells destroy the cells that produce brown pigment. This destruction is thought to be due to an autoimmune problem, but the cause is unknown.
Vitiligo may appear at any age. There is an increased rate of the condition in some families. The condition affects about 1 out of every 100 people in the United States.
