I wanted to capture the faces of construction workers in Dubai, that, under poor conditions, are building the new "Shangri- La". Dubai's playground for masstourism. It is build in the middle of the desert and it is constructed by workers from mainly India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Comming to Dubai, they have been promised good sallery and safe working conditions. As I was told by some of the workers, the fact is that, when arriving to Dubai they are taken their passports, after signing a contract on average 3 years. They are living in workcamps, up to 8- 10 people in the same room and they are having a working day on 12 hours in the sun where the temperatures often reach as high as 45 celcius. It is not possible for them to earn enogh money to support their families at home and they are not able to leave the country before the contract is over and they can get their passport back. During the years there has been several repports of suicides and death from exhaustion.
