SDN seeks journalism students for internship for new magazine


ZEKE! The magazine of global awareness published by the  Social Documentary Network

The world explored through photographs, ideas, and words, by leading documentary photographers from across the globe. The first issue will be published in January 2015 featuring the best work from SDN from the previous year. Featured in the first issue will be The Face of Water, a project by Rudi Dundas creating powerful color portraits of people effected by the water crisis in Africa;  A Favela Hill, a project by Dario Domenicis exploring in film noir-like images of a favela in Rio; and Birth is a Dream: Maternity in Africa, a project by Paolo Patruno documenting the dangerous and awesome act of childbirth in sub-Saharan Africa.
 

Intern positions available

Writer: Journalism student with strong writing and editing skills to edit materials provided by photographers and provide additional original content related to issues explored in photographic essays. Assist in writing and editing other content in magazine.

Publishing: Assist in marketing and ad sales for this new magazine, including developing and writing collateral materials.

SDN is seeking graduate or upper-level undergraduate students (or recent graduate) for these positions. Intern positions will begin immediately and continue through fall semester with possibly follow up in winter. Number of hours per week and schedule can be worked out to suit intern’s class/work schedule. Minimum of 6 hours per week averaged over fall semester required. SDN is located in Concord, Massachusetts although all work will be done independently by students, with regular phone/email communications and in-person meetings if intern lives in Boston area. These are unpaid positions. Interns will receive a $250 stipend at end of semester.
