Ozmo Licensing for SocialDocumentary.net
SocialDocumentary.net has partnered with Ozmo, a web-based licensing service from Copyright Clearance Center, to provide commercial licensing of photographs on SocialDocumentary.net (SDN). Photographers with exhibits on SDN can create licenses for their work on the Ozmo website in just a few easy steps. Each photographer sets his or her own prices and license terms for their content. All work remains hosted on the SDN website and the copyright always remains with the photographer.
Photo editors and other buyers of photography can search either the SDN site or the Ozmo site (www.ozmo.com) for creative work. When they find work they are interested in, they can view the license terms and fees on the Ozmo site and proceed with the transaction. Payments are made from Ozmo using Amazon Flexible Payment Services. Photographers and buyers must create an account with Amazon Payment Services in order to process the transaction.
Photographers are paid 70% of the transaction fee. SDN receives 5%. The remainder is split between Ozmo and Amazon Flexible Payment Services.
Steps for Photographers to License Their Work with Ozmo*
Step 1: Create Exhibit on SDN
Photographers must first have a live exhibit on the SDN website. Click here for a free membership with SDN and begin creating exhibits.
Step 2: Create Accounts with Ozmo and Amazon Flexible Payment Services
The next step is to register for a free account with Ozmo (www.ozmo.com) and select payment settings with Amazon Payment Services (www.amazon.com).
Step 3: Create License and Establish Fees on Ozmo Website
Photographers create a license for their SDN exhibits by following these simple steps:
- Log in to account created on the Ozmo website in Step 2 above.
- Select the terms of your license. Each license on Ozmo applies to a specific exhibit on SDN. Unique licenses must be set up for each exhibit.
- Establish fees for the license.
- Copy the exhibit URL from the SDN site and paste it into the license page on Ozmo. Thumbnails of all the photos in that exhibit will appear. Deselect any individual images that you do not want to license.
- Repeat process above for additional SDN exhibits.
Step 4: Let SDN Visitors Know Your Work is Available for Licensing
To let SDN viewers know that your work is available for licensing:
- Go into the SDN edit page for the licensed exhibit.
- Select the check box marked for Ozmo licensing below “Exhibit State” and enter your four-digit license number from Ozmo into the box . This number is available on both your Ozmo license page and your Ozmo account page. This is a unique number that identifies this license and this exhibit.
After you complete this process, a new link will appear on your exhibit page, identifying that this work is available for commercial licensing. This link directs buyers to the license page for your exhibit on the Ozmo website.
Note: If a photographer allows their exhibit to expire on SDN, this work is no longer available for license on Ozmo.
Photo Buyers
Buyers can search for work on the SocialDocumentary.net website using the various search tools available. Work can be searched by country, theme, keyword, or photographer’s name. If the work is available for licensing, there will be a clearly identified link on the SDN exhibit page. Click on this link, and you will be directed to the Ozmo licensing page. See further instructions on the Ozmo website on how to purchase a license for this work and make payment.
Payment
When a buyer of creative content has identified work that they are interested in licensing on the Ozmo licensing page, they can purchase immediately the medium resolution image (1000 pixels) that is stored on the SDN server and pictured on the Ozmo licensing page. If a higher resolution image is required, buyers will need to contact the photographer to determine other resolutions available and method of delivery.
