Biography

Elie Gardner is a multimedia journalist and educator with a passion for stories related to social equality, education and the environment. She is available for assignments worldwide and currently based in Lima, Peru.

Her love for photojournalism began in high school when she took a black-and-white photography class using her great grandfather’s Pentax SP500. Before moving to South America, she worked as a staff photographer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in St. Louis, Missouri.

While in St. Louis, Elie also taught courses in multimedia production and photojournalism for Webster University. She has led trips for National Geographic Student Expeditions to Bar Harbor, Maine, London, England and Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands.

A native of Carrington, North Dakota, Elie graduated with honors from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism.
