Monday, May 30, 2011. Andrew Mark Krippner was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on April 22, 1991, the only child of Kenneth and Pam Krippner. His family later moved to Garland, Texas, where Andy grew up. Within a year of graduating from high school, Andy had completed training as an infantryman with the U.S. Army and had deployed to the Kunar Provence of Afghanistan. Six weeks after deployment, and just after his 20th birthday, Private Krippner was killed when his vehicle was hit by an IED. The other soldiers killed in the May 23, 2011 attack were Staff Sergeant Kristofferson B. Lorenzo, 33, of Chula Vista, Calif.; Private First Class William S. Blevins, 21, of Sardinia, Ohio; and Private Thomas C. Allers, 23, of Plainwell, Mich. 6,013 flags on the corner of Restland Rd. and Greenville Ave. in Dallas, Texas represent fatalities from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. (Texans are memorialized by 534 Texas Flags.) At the front of the display is Pfc. Krippner's Texas flag. The flag to the left, and two flags to the right, are for the three soldiers who died with him.
