Pandemic in Focus

Night sanitation

Héctor Adolfo Quintanar Pérez | Veracruz, Mexico

A sanitation worker works late at night on the main streets of the city.

During the nights and early mornings, the team of sanitizers from the community of Coatepec, spend long hours walking the streets spreading chemicals that serve to sterilize public places such as markets, churches and hospitals to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This task is done at night so that the chemicals do not harm people as they are slightly toxic. Currently the town has 6 positive cases of Covid-19, however it is estimated that it will grow because the inhabitants have relaxed the quarantine and no longer follow the guidelines of staying at home.
