Haircuts for homeless

Lexie Harrison-Cripps | United Kingdom

With homelessness on the rise in London, Haircuts4Homeless is busier than ever. Teams of volunteer hairdressers go into shelters across the UK to give people haircuts, conversation and a quick head massage.

In 2019, there was a surge of homelessness and rough sleepers in London.  With more homeless than there are spaces in shelters, the situation can be very difficult.  One charity is looking to make a difference by providing haircuts to homeless and rough sleepers in London.  Haircuts4Homeless was set up by Stewart Roberts to provide dignity and a listening ear to some of London's most vulnerable.

I'm a documentary photographer and photojournalist based all over the world and working for international press agencies and NGOs.  I'm an accredited photojournalist with the NUJ in the UK and am published internationally.  I am currently working on a project to document refugee life in Europe.
