In this project, I tried to explore my great-grandfather's personal history which consists of many small stories told by my family. In the process, I realized that some stories were incomplete and some were simply untrue. The only thing that was objectively true was the physical Arona river and the people who currently live there. The place where my grand great-grandfather lived was a densely populated rural area where people were related to each other. Their descendants, who now live there, could tell the stories about my ancestors, from their perspective. Finding people who live in the proximity of the river was like finding the missing pieces of a century-old puzzle. Throughout this journey, I realized that history is not objective truth, but it is a stream of intertwined personal stories, which flow from the past to the future- just like the river Arona.
