Biography

Emiliano Pinnizzotto was born in Rome in 1983, and following the family tradition, displayed at an early age an inclination towards and a great feeling for the image and the audio visual arts, fascinated as he was with photography, cinema and music.

He began to take photographs as early as he can remember. Influenced by the numerous journeys around the world he made with his parents, at the age of sixteen he directed his passion for photography towards social reportage. In this way he gradually developed a style of his own, characterized above all by photographic storytelling and portraiture in a social vein, making use exclusively of the natural light available, even in the most difficult situations.

In his work he pays particular attention to the anthropological and spiritual aspects of diverse people and cultures – stories and characters met with on journeys – documenting and translating into images traditions, rituals, habits and customs that are still observed today. At the same time, he has developed a great passion for the photography of architecture.

He is a member of the National Order Of Journalists - he has worked for many years with the Graffiti School of Photography, as a teacher of photography, video and post production. The graphics, cover planning and page layout of the seventeen photographic books published by the Graffiti Publishing House are his work. He is represented by the Graffiti Press - Photojournalism Agency of Rome with whom he has published various reports in national and foreign newspapers.

Over the course of the years he has become a point of reference in the sector of digital image processing, both for the great care with which he works, and for the quality he attains, above all in black and white. He has been, too, for more than fifteen years, an expert in postproduction for Graffiti, and for many other photographers.

Many of his photographs have been collected in books published by the Graffiti Publishing House (“ROMA - Between Lights and Shadows”, 2018; “Light as Narration”, 2017; “Shape Volume Texture Colour”, 2016; “Lost Youth”, 2009; “Collateral Damage”, 2009; “Children of the Holy Land”, 2006) and a large number of exhibitions of his work have been held, in Italy (Rome, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Lucca, Empoli, etc.) and abroad (Lima, Bethlehem, Buenos Aires, Kiev, San Marino, London, Portland-USA, Sintra, Paris, Sharjah - Dubai).

His photographs have been acquired by the Museum of Oriental Art in Rome, and shown in La Feltrinelli in Naples, Genoa and Rome. He took part in the International Festival of Human Rights in Todi (2017) and Orvieto (2018), and in the Xposure International Photography Festival in Sharjah (Dubai). Among his most important exhibitions were "Unusual Visions" in the Museum of Civilization in Rome "L. Pigorini" and "Perù - tan Lejos, tan Cerca" in Lima in Perù.
