"Children Of The Movement" is the story of a new generation of activists fighting for justice in Donald Trump's America. This series documents kids and teens protesting in support of numerous issues and rights under attack by MAGA Republicans.
Beginning at the first protest I photographed in January 2016, I was incredibly drawn to how inspiring the young people I saw at these events were. They were not only there, but actively participating. Marching, chanting, giving speeches, and carrying signs they had clearly made themselves. Signs written in crayon and marker, some with backwards letters, spelling errors, and messy drawings. For some reason those imperfect signs and the childlike innocence made their presence even more powerful. To these kids, even those too young to spell correctly, this country’s problems are so obvious.
These kids are our future. And as they take to the streets, they are our hope. Hope for preserving the values this country was founded upon, and hope for a better future. A world full of a lot less hate and injustice, and a lot more love.
