Sarachui is located about three hours by foot into the mountains from the village of Guatapuri, in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada in the Colombian department of Cesar. Sarachui is a small Kogi settlement in the Sierra. The Kogi people are descendants of the Tairona culture, an advanced civilization which built many stone structures and pathways in the jungle.
