On March 14, 2025, thousands of American veterans, having served their country across multiple wars, gathered at the Elipse in Washington, to protest DOGE's cuts to the Veterans Administration, estimated at the time to be as many as 80,000 workers. These cuts, which had already begun being implpemented, would dramatically impact disability claims, mental health care, crisis support, and jobs, affecting millions of of men and women who had sacrificed greatly. Many veterans, some in uniform and some wrapped in the American flag, spoke of the love they had for their country, and the betrayal they felt as that same country, led by an uncaring administration and a rogue department led by Elon Musk, was turning its back on them. It was a day of high emotion, but also a day of comraderie and mutual support.
