In the shadow of looming city blocks, a couple poses for the photo, standing quietly in the tall grass, facing what remains of untamed land. Their presence feels both intimate and defiant—a gesture of belonging to a space rapidly disappearing under the march of development. Here, where concrete creeps closer every year, nature lingers like a fading memory. The scene is tender, yet heavy with the knowledge that this sanctuary of green is not permanent; it is a pause before erasure.

Biography

I am a documentary photographer based in Bangladesh, and my work explores socio-environmental transformations and the quiet narratives that often remain unseen. My practice is shaped by a deep engagement with critical theory, psychoanalytic approaches, and sustained field-based research, allowing me to navigate the intersections of power, memory, and ecological consciousness.

I built my photographic foundation at Counter Foto and The VII Foundation, developing both technical and conceptual rigor. To further expand my practice, I pursued specialized training, including the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop with VII Academy, GenGeo Storytelling for Impact: Photography from the National Geographic Society, and Introduction to Digital Journalism from Reuters.

My work has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Royal Photographic Society Documentary Photography Award 2025 (Winner), CPOY 2025 (Gold), the Lucie Scholarship Grant 2025 (Honorable Mention), and The BarTur Photojournalism Award 2022 (Highly Commended), among others. I have exhibited nationally and internationally, with presentations across the UK, USA, France, Italy, India and Thailand.

Rooted in lived experience and long-term observation, my work seeks to preserve what is fading, question what is transforming, and reveal the emotional terrains shaped by changing environments.
