Artisanal Fishing in Huanchaco, Peru

Andres Guerrero | Peru

This is an early edit of a long-term project — I began in 2022 — on a coastal fishing community facing environmental strain and cultural continuity. I went back in 2025 after heavy rains flooded and contaminated areas of the town. I'm still navigating the project, figuring out the story, and connecting with the community.

My interest as a photographer began in the water with surf, friends, and my love for the ocean. Water is the common theme in most of my work. As a journalist, I investigate the emotional and environmental impacts of tourism and urbanization and the loss of connection with nature.
