This year, the ancient provincial Russian town of Staritsa hosted the inaugural clown festival "Karandash-Fest," dedicated to the clown Karandash (real name Mikhail Rumyantsev), who once shone in the arena of the Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. Another famous Russian circus clown, Yuri Nikulin, was his student. Rumyantsev is said to have been born in the village of Kozlovo in the Staritsa district. This is why the town chose to hold the festival. Renowned clown troupes and performers participated in the festival.
