New York City’s five boroughs are perceived as a singular metropolis; however, it is a vast collection of different lifestyles. Each community within the borough embodies a distinct culture and reflects the people living there. The lifestyle and set of priorities are characterized by income levels, housing, capital, and influence. The disparity is enormous.
This series focuses on luxurious Midtown Manhattan. In a single bus ride, one can travel from overpriced Midtown Manhattan to bargain-filled vendors on Canal Street. In midtown, a Birkin handbag is priced as high as $450,000. On Canal Street, reproductions of identical bags are 25 dollars.
The need for quality leads to significantly different daily experiences for people, causing some individuals to accept a facsimile of the real thing when it comes to healthcare, medications, food and products. This gap illustrates how disparities manifest across different aspects of life and influence people's experiences of these differences.
Although the city flourishes due to its diversity, New Yorkers exist in seperate realities.
