In the middle of the Wyoming Legislature's 2026 budget session students from high schools all over Cheyene, Wyoming organized a walkout to protest ICE in Laramie County. Students walked out of second period classes with hommade signs chanting and demanding ICE get out of Wyoming. A group of around 200 students marched three miles to the state Capitol building and continued their protest. Their presence was non-violent, but powerful. Demanding change in their community. The protest eventuallty caught the attention of multiple legislators who stood in the windows of the Capitol to watch the protest. Eventually two legislators came outisde and stood on the steps of the Capitol to address the crowd of students. They let them know what they were doing was important and assured them their voices were being heard. This was monumental. This brave group of students peacefully demonstrated the power of protest and many adults joined them in their protest.
