Be a family among mines.

Simone Francescangeli | Bolivia

For several months, I followed the stories of various miners family. Among the Bolivian mines. Altitude and stones. Breathing is so hard, dust enters the lungs. Also imprisons thoughts. Life is a constant struggle. Every day the day. Every day everyone lose direction, every day survival blurs their vision. Children dreams of flying in the high sky. Men fall into the darkness of the earth. Sometimes the sun shines on their eyes. Women cannot work in the mines. Mother Earth is a woman. Only men can penetrate her. Women must make do with dust in their hands. Every day, hope is the only source of survival. Survival is a ferocious animal. Hope has a different light. Glances, shadows, and suspended shapes awaiting a different time.

Image 4: Father and son. - Same sweat, same dust, same darkness.

Image 5: Hanging. - Time is as relentless as the dust of the mines. Lives hung like objects.

Image 6: Alcohol. Today and now. - The lack of a future and alcohol often cross paths in the mines. The damned need to forget.

Image 7: The distance of future. - Be a woman. Last after the last among mines. A life trying to escape. Struggle for a different life.

Image 8: The astronaut. - Dreams possible only as children.

Image 9: Children in and out. - Be a child in and out the mines. Eyes and arms towards the future.
