Biography

Małgorzata Dominiak is a documentary photographer born in Poland in 1970. She currently lives and works in Gliwice, Upper Silesia. She graduated from Fotografika, a photography school in Poznań.

In her work, the author focuses primarily on long-term projects that explore themes of old age, isolation, and the loneliness of the elderly, the sick, or those excluded from modern life. Interpersonal relationships are important to her, and she dedicates a large portion of her photography to them.

As she says, she photographs ordinary life, ordinary people, and our everyday problems. She sees beauty where others see only hardship and the mundane. Portrait photography is close to her heart, which she understands as an attempt to capture the beauty inherent in every person.

She is the author of the series "I Am" (about the lives of seniors at the Senior+ Day Care Center in Sośnicowice), "My Mom's Sofa" (about a mother's life confined to the space around her beloved sofa), and "A Simple Story" (about an elderly woman who runs a stable with seven horses and adopts various animals that people bring her).

Her photographs have been selected for a group exhibition at the Foto Art Festival in Bielsko-Biała in 2025 and the Polish Women Photographers Exhibitions in 2025 and 2026.
