Biography

Ted Lieverman is an independent documentary photographer and writer, working on issues of work, social justice and post-conflict communities. He has photographed in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Lithuania, El Salvador, Cuba, Israel and Palestine, as well as in the U.S. Lieverman is a former photographer for Northstar Productions and associate producer for two of their documentary films including Guazapa: Yesterday’s Enemies about post-war El Salvador. He is a member of the National Press Photographers Association, the Philadelphia Pen and Pencil Club, and an associate member of Local 38010 of The News Guild/CWA. For many years, Lieverman served as a labor union and class action lawyer. In 2011, he received a grant from the Fulbright Specialist Program to lecture on election reform in Belgrade, Serbia, and also taught at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania. He is a former chair of the Fund for Reconciliation and Development, a US-based NGO working in Southeast Asia and Cuba (http://www.ffrd.org).
