The measure of humanity is how we treat our most vulnerable – children, the sick, and the elderly…These words of Pope Francis became a point of reference for me when I began photographing the lives of seniors at the Senior+ Day Care Center in Sośnicowice.

Although the subjects of the photographs are elderly, this is not a story about transience, but about life, about everyday life with tea, conversation, and sometimes silence. Seniors, like all of us, want to be noticed, need conversation, closeness, relationships, and sometimes flirtation. Seniors don't disappear, they co-create the world, and I wanted to speak about this presence, to look deeper, beyond age, beyond stereotypes. 

Each photo is the voice of a person who have something to say, not about the past, but about what's important today. The Senior+ Day Care Center is a community, a place where everyone can be themselves.

Are we able to provide compassionate, unhurried companionship? 

Do we have time to simply sit down and talk?
