Change in the Yamal, Siberia

Bryan & Cherry Alexander | Russian Federation

Gas development is well under way on the Yamal Peninsula, Siberia. The Nenets continue their tradition of reindeer herding while a railway is built to gas fields and the local town of Salekhard becomes a gas boomtown, with new buildings and ice sculptures.

I want to show the resilience of the local Nenets reindeer herders, their world is changing  fast but they still choose to continue their traditional ways, but embrace parts of the new world that they find useful, like mobile phones.
