The Leica Gallery Boston is proud to host the kick-off event for SDN’s 10th anniversary celebration by presenting an artist talk and reception with award-winning documentary photography and avid Leica user Ed Kashi.

Since 2008, the Boston-based Social Documentary Network (SDN) has been presenting and promoting documentary photography on global themes from its worldwide membership of over 2,000 photographers. In 2015, SDN began publishing ZEKE: The Magazine of Global Documentary. Please join us for a reception celebrating SDN’s 10th anniversary. SDN Advisory Committee Member and VII photographer Ed Kashi will speak about his work documenting issues around the world.

Ed Kashi

Ed KashiEd Kashi is a critically acclaimed, award-winning photojournalist, filmmaker, speaker, and educator who, for 40 years, has dedicated himself to documenting many of the social and geopolitical issues that define our times. A sensitive eye and an intimate relationship to his subjects are signatures of his work. A member of the VII Agency since 2010, Ed has been recognized for his complex imagery and its compelling rendering of the human condition. His books include Curse of the Black Gold: 50 Years of Oil in the Niger Delta, THREE, and Witness Number 8: Photojournalisms.


Prints of Ed Kashi’s work, printed by Digital Silver Imaging, will be on view and available for sale. Ed will also be signing copies of his books that will be on sale in the gallery.
