Biography

Kate Way is a photographer, filmmaker, and veteran educator. Kate holds a M.F.A. in Photography an an Ed.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture, with a focus on critical media literacy, the politics of K-12 education, and social/economic justice. Kate has worked with students and prospective teachers in the United States and abroad on the development of literacy skills across mediums, and on using photography, video, and audio production to promote social change. Her photography has been exhibited in both solo and group shows, is included in a number of private collections, and has been published in the New York Times, Mother Jones magazine, and Re:Public. Kate recently co-directedand produced the documentary film G is for Gun, which was nationally broadcast on the PBS WORLD Channel in the fall of 2018. She currently lecturespart-time in the University of Massachusetts system and at Bard Microcollege, Holyoke, and is in production on two new film and photography projects.
