November 17 in New York City was a critical day for the Occupy Wall Street movement. It was OWS's two-month anniversary, with actions planned worldwide. But Mayor Bloomberg had evicted the protestor emcampment from Zuccotti park earlier in the week, and many in the media were speculating about how the loss of this symbol would affect the movement.
The day started off with early confrontations between protestors and the police at the New York Stock Exchange, and the administration made dire predictions about the subway teach-ins planned later in the afternoon, as well as the evening mass march across the Brooklyn Bridge -- fueling the anxiety that had already been building in the city for several days.
I joined one of the subway teach-ins at 3 pm and continued shooting throughout the rally at Foley Square and the march across the bridge. The resulting photos reflect what has been so compelling about this movement from the beginning: its humanity, passion and courage.
