Title:
The Revolutionary Moment: Portraits of Viet Cong
Location:
Viet Nam
Pham Minh, Viet Cong, 2012
The first time I made a photograph in Viet Nam was when I was a soldier during our war there. On my most recent visit I began making portraits of Viet Cong, the revolutionary soldiers who fought against us. The images were made in Quang Ngai Province, a place that was extremely hostile to the French and then us. As I see it, the portraits are equal parts homage and reconciliation.
