Dormitory

Maryam Nematollahi | Iran

Untitled

In the dormitory collection, I tried to depict nature life of Iranian student girls objectively and openly. Sometimes, I am in the photos and part of the subject. Infact, as an internal observer, I wanted to enter the conscience of these common events, so this way I can show social/ cultural refrences about the status of women in Iranian society.

The coverage of the girls is represents subjects in their private space and that is way they do natural thing, but as if these private moments want to release and free themselves in the public space by photography.

In other words, dormitory collection is in search of desensitization available around of the women category, and it is transformation to ordinary, because of the replication of the photo among the public. The images of this collection are to pass the concept of woman as cultural structures and consider her as first- class as a human with all her qualities and need; needs such as happiness and liberation.
