On Broken Pieces

Cynthia B. Slaughter | Florida, United States

Tool of Choice

“Isn’t my word like fire and like a hammer that shatters rock? declares the LORD.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭23:29‬ ‭‬‬

As a documentary photographer, I love to tell the story, research the facts and study the subject matter. In this project I included environmental portraits to convey the emotions of sadness, loneliness and being overwhelmed by a natural disaster. I photograph with an open heart and mind to visually capture and tell the story.

Cynthia B. Slaughter is a documentary photographer from the Central Florida area. Her fondness for photography started in the late 70’s upon graduating high school. Many years later Cynthia attended photography classes at Crealdè School of Art, Winter Park, Florida. There the director of photography, Rick Lang seeing the potential in her photographs suggested she apply for The Student Fellowship Program. From 2012-2016 she was mentored in the fellowship of student program, which equipped her to become the fellowship manager from 2016-2018.

Slaughter is currently active as an Emerging Artist at Crealdè School of Art.
